The 5-Minute Presentation Challenge: How to Present Your Ideas

This session will highlight the best examples of the 5-Minute Thesis Challenge that began in December in the PD Café. The objective of this extended event is to provide the audience with skills to be effective communicators. These skills are important for trainees at all stages and regardless of their professional goals. The PD Café described strategies to create your “elevator pitch” for your thesis. They discussed some of the common pitfalls to finding the right amount of technical detail when telling others about what you do as a Gene/Cell scientist. Participants at the PD Café were then given the opportunity/challenge to post a 5-minute video of their thesis after learning several strategies to best present their ideas.
