Abstract submissions for the 27th Annual Meeting open on Nov. 13, 2023.
Free Registration for Associate Members
Associate Members (available for postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory assistant and technicians) who are presenting first authors will receive free registration. Other membership types or those that are not first authors are not eligible.
Meritorious Abstract Travel Awards
ASGCT supports the travel of approximately 150 Associate Members each year through the Meritorious Abstract Travel Award Program. Awards are given based on the high review scores given by the review committees. Recipients will receive a certificate and will be reimbursed for their travel specific expenses. These reimbursements will be up to $500 for domestic awardees and $600 for international awardees. ASGCT cannot reimburse for meals, visa applications, poster expenses, registration, or membership fees.
There is no separate application for travel grants. You can sign up for a travel grant during the abstract submission process.
Underrepresented Population Travel Awards
In addition to the Meritorious Abstract Travel Awards, ASGCT will also offer a limited number of Underrepresented Population Travel Awards to Associate Members who did not receive a Meritorious Abstract Travel Award. Eligible candidates must be a US resident and from a group underrepresented in the scientific workforce as defined by the NIH.
Excellence in Research Awards
The top 10–15 abstracts submitted by students and fellows will receive an Excellence in Research Award determined by the ASGCT Secretary and Abstract Chair. Recipients will be announced at the end of the George Stamatoyannopoulos plenary lecture and will receive a monetary award of $500 along with a special plaque.
Outstanding Poster Presentation Awards
ASGCT Annual Meeting attendees will be able to vote for their favorite poster onsite. The 30 posters with the most votes will be honored through notification to all meeting attendees and receive a special certificate for their contributions.
Mavis Agbandje-McKenna Scholarship and Fund
In 2022, ASGCT introduced the Mavis Agbandje-McKenna Scholarship and Fund to honor the scholar's dedication to scientific excellence, love for mentoring others, and undending willingness to collaborate.
The permanent scholarship seeks to continue Dr. Agbandje-McKenna's legacy through ASGCT and focuses on identifying early-career researchers who are also members of underrepresented populations in science and provide the financial resources necessary to eliminate all barriers to participating in ASGCT.
The top scoring underrepresented populations submitted abstract will be the recipient and will be announced at the end of the George Stamatoyannopoulos plenary lecture and will receive a monetary award of $5,000 along with a special plaque.
