Plain Language Summaries

For the first time ever, we requested plain language summaries during the abstract submission process.  A plain language summary communicates the findings of a scientific study to help people without scientific expertise better understand important progress in the field. ASGCT, in collaboration with the Patient Outreach Committee, is motivated to improve how we communicate scientific research to patients, caregivers, and advocates. Thank you to those who submitted abstracts this year!

From a selection of dozens, we felt these 25 had good readability and abstract scores, used plain language, and provided valuable insights to the patient advocate community. All submitted summaries can be viewed alongside the published abstracts. We hope to continue fostering knowledge by communicating scientific findings in this way.
