Abstract Notification

Abstract acceptance notifications will be sent via email on March 20, 2019, after all reviewing has been completed.  If you don’t receive your notification email by March 20, 2019, please contact Sam Kay. Accepted abstracts will be scheduled as either an oral presentation or a poster presentation.

The official acceptance letter, which includes all details of a presentation including date, time and location, will be posted online through the Abstract Submission site. International abstract submitters who plan to attend the ASGCT 22nd Annual Meeting will need to apply for a VISA to travel to the meeting in Washington, D.C., USA.

Please Note: The amount of time required to obtain a VISA has increased tremendously. Abstract submitters will be able to generate invitation letters online so they can apply for their VISA immediately after submitting an abstract. Check back here in October to generate your invitation letter and if you have any problems, please contact Sam Kay.

Free Registration

Associate Members who are the first and presenting author on an abstract will receive free registration for the ASGCT 22nd Annual Meeting. Non-members who have submitted abstracts are invited to apply for membership.

Meritorious Abstract Travel Awards

ASGCT will be offering Meritorious Abstract Travel Awards to Associate Members (students or postdoctoral fellows) who have submitted abstracts and received an average review score of between 1 and 3.5.

Submitters must be Associate Members at the time of submitting their abstract to qualify for Travel Awards. Non-members interested in qualifying for travel awards are invited to apply for membership.

There is not a separate application for travel grants. You must sign up for a travel grant during the abstract submission process.

Outstanding Poster Presentation Awards

ASGCT will again be giving Outstanding Poster Presentation Awards to attendees from each abstract category, following each poster session.

Awards will be given based on an onsite review during each poster session by the respective Poster Review Teams.

If you would like to volunteer to be a poster presentation reviewer for the ASGCT 22nd Annual Meeting, visit the Volunteer page at ASGCT.org.

Poster Production Funding

In 2019, ASGCT will once again pay for poster production for 30 Associate Members.

Poster production recipients will be chosen based on abstract review scores and a determination of the ASGCT Abstract Review Committee.

Underrepresented Minority Travel Awards

ASGCT will offer a limited number of Underrepresented Minority Travel Awards for students and postdoctoral fellows submitting abstracts for the meeting. Candidate must be a U.S. resident and self-identify as belonging to one of the following groups:

  • African American

Abstract Presentation Information

Oral Abstract Presentations

Approximately 40 percent of accepted abstracts are scheduled as oral abstract presentations. Oral abstract presentations are formal PowerPoint presentations given during two-hour, simultaneous oral abstract sessions. A total of 8 abstracts are presented in each session. Presentations are 10 minutes in length followed by a 5 minute Q&A.

Poster Presentations

Sixty percent of all abstracts presented at the Annual Meeting occur during one of three poster sessions. Poster sessions allow the presenter to illustrate the abstract on a poster board and discuss the abstract with attendees in-person.

Authors must be present during a two-hour evening poster session at which their abstract has been assigned. Poster presenters will be able to create their posters online, for a fee, through a third-party website that will be made available closer to the meeting. Posters will be shipped directly to the ASGCT 22nd Annual Meeting for pickup at the registration desk.
