Detailed Program

Gene and Cell Based Therapies for Lung and GI (Organized by the Respiratory and GI Tract Gene and Cell Therapy Committee)

Patients with genetic diseases affecting the respiratory or gastrointestinal tract are left with limited treatment options that require innovative approaches. This session will review gene and cell therapy applications to target macrophages for the treatment of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis as well as for COVID19- associated respiratory failure. Two additional talks will highlight recent advances in the delivery of genes using organ-specific targeted nanoparticle technology while utilizing mini-lungs/gut model for the ex vivo assessment of the efficacy of gene and cell therapies.
